St Francis Shines at National Athletics Finals

Exciting News from St Francis! Our talented athletes competed in the National Athletics Finals yesterday at the prestigious Alexander Stadium, the home of British Athletics and the iconic venue for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

We are incredibly proud of Charlotte (Year 8), Orlando (Year 6), and Bertie (Year 5) for their outstanding performances. This was Charlotte's last Athletics fixture at St Francis, and she certainly left her mark with an impressive 11th place finish in the 1500m, clocking in at 5:21.78. Bertie also showcased his stamina in the 1500m, finishing 15th with a time of 5:29.06. Meanwhile, Orlando demonstrated his speed in the 200m, securing 4th place in his heat with a time of 30.02.

Kevan Brown, Director of Sport at St Francis, expressed his delight at the students' achievements: "I couldn't be prouder of Charlotte, Orlando, and Bertie. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, and competing at such a high level is a testament to their commitment to athletics. Charlotte’s performance in her final event was particularly moving, and Bertie and Orlando’s results are equally commendable."

David Lee, Headmaster of St Francis, enthused : "Our students' performances at the National Athletics Finals reflect the high standards we strive for at St Francis. It’s wonderful to see our young athletes not only compete but excel on such a prestigious stage. Charlotte, Orlando, and Bertie have made the entire school community extremely proud."
