International Success for Tara
Celebrations abound for St Francis after one of their alumna celebrates international rowing success!
Tara Lloyd left St Francis in 2020, but took with her a love of rowing. First fostered at the School’s Ergo Club, Tara expanded her love of rowing at Monkton Combe, which led to her success at the Home International Regatta in Ireland this summer. At the international competition, which launched the careers of Olympians such as Steve Redgrave and Charlotte Booth, Tara excelled and took home an international gold medal.
Tara says "I started playing around on the ergs in the ergo club at St Francis and since it has led me here! I was not allowed to do most sports when I was younger but can remember that one! Thank you!
I have since moved to Shrewsbury School where I now compete for RSSBC and I am hoping to race for GB this summer and race at Henley Royal Regatta!"
Head at St Francis, David Lee added, “Whilst Tara and I never crossed paths at St Francis, it is always a joy to hear of the wonderful foundation St Francis has given our pupils and just how much they have used this to springboard into their chosen path. I look forward to following Tara’s rowing career with great interest, and who knows – maybe one day I will be cheering on a St Francis alumna at the Olympics!”
