A showstopping Jungle Book!
St Francis pupils swung from the rafters at the end of their summer term with a rousing performance of the Rudyard Kipling classic novel “The Jungle Book”.
Pupils from Years 5&6 collaborated on the dramatic highlight of the year, which also marked a collaboration between both the music and the drama departments. Recently crowned Inspirational Singing Teacher of the Year, Kay Francis, musically guided pupils through some well loved classic songs such as “I Wanna Be Like You”.
The third creative art, Art was not to be left out though as Year 6 pupils competed against each other to design the front cover of the programme. The competition was so strong that in the end 5 winners were crowned with Nell, Iona, Serena, Jessica and Alice all having their artwork on the programme.
Year 6 pupil Inigo, who secured his Marlborough College place this year, was the leading man, giving a show stopping performance as Mowgli. Proud father Niels enthused “I really enjoyed the show - Inigo was so brilliant. I don't think I'd appreciated how well he can sing!”
Headmaster of St Francis, David Lee, added “The Year 5&6 performance of The Jungle Book was a truly wonderful way to end the academic year. It was brilliant to see both year groups working so well together to give such our parents such a marvellous show. Well done to all those involved in making this production as fantastic as it was!”
