Learning Support
At any point in a child’s school career, they might require an extra helping hand.
Whilst the majority of pupils’ needs are accommodated within the classroom through a differentiated curriculum, a few need that little extra attention, be it educational, emotional or social.
Working in partnership with parents and staff, we can identify, assess and support learners in the areas that are necessary for effective learning; e.g. reading, spelling, numeracy, memory, motor skills, speech and language, study skills and organisation. Learning Support is a friendly integrated department that sits at the heart of St Francis.
The experienced and fully qualified Learning Support team, includes access to an experienced visiting speech and language therapist. The team works with current thinking, to support all pupils’ needs, allowing them to flourish and reach their potential. The team offers one-to-one support and small group work to pupils from Nursery to Year 8, using individually designed programmes which focus on expanding pupils’ strengths and supporting their developing areas.
If you require more information about this department, please contact our Head of Learning Support, Ms Rose Tomlin via the School Office.
