Nell is a Finalist
Senior Pupil at St Francis, Nell G, is celebrating being one of the finalists in the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours Coronation Award. There were over a thousand entries from young artists aged between 11-18 and only 40 finalists so Nell did fantastically well!
Nell used her "free time" over the holidays to create a wonderful self-portrait in gouache and acrylic, drawing inspiration from the works of Jenny Saville.
This success builds on her already impressive result in the Devizes Eisteddfod where she won the Senior Art Cup, at only 11 years old she was competing against fellow artists aged 11-18 and beyond!
Whilst Nell’s immediate focus is on her upcoming art scholarship (influenced by David Hockney), in the future she hopes to follow an artistic career.
Head of Art & Design Technology at St Francis, Jo Parkes, enthused “This is an utterly exceptional achievement by Nell, who continues to go from strength to strength with her art. To show such talent at a young age is genuinely exciting and we look forward to seeing her ability continue to flourish!”.
